A message from the CEO

Dear Friends, we know how difficult the Corona Virus crisis is for everyone but for those of us who are also battling cancer, the isolation and added stress are also dangerous. AzMN has mobilized volunteers from the mental health field to respond to emails and phone calls for cancer patients/families. You can contact us with concerns and questions, or just to provide a ‘friendly’ voice. Just contact by email or our phone number. I will respond myself or have one of our volunteers get back to you.
We are all in this Together and will Survive!

Sincerely,
Barbara and Jack Kavanagh

New Year. New Hope. 2020

We wish all of you a healthy and happy New Year and ‘welcome’ to a New Decade with New Hope!  Looking back on 2019, many of us who are ‘Living with Cancer’ are simply grateful that we made it through another year! Living with cancer as a patient and caregiver is often a story of ‘small victories’.

Over the past 28+ years since Jack was diagnosed in 1991, I have been with him at hundreds of doctor’s appointments. I still have that same feeling of anxiety, then relief if he is ‘ok’. then gratitude!  Ending 2019 and beginning a new Decade, we are excited about the advances in cancer research and treatment. And, have great hope that this is the Decade for the Cure!

We ask that you join us in 2020 by celebrating life and all our ‘small victories’ together!  Make a Difference! Donate now and start the New Year Right! Help us continue 16 years of FREE Cancer Patient and Caregiver Education Programs!

Sincerely,

Barbara and Jack Kavanagh

Living with Cancer, a CareGivers Journey®

My writing journey is well underway! The goal of this project is to provide insights and resources that will lead the reader to be a more educated cancer patient and a more effective cancer caregiver.

It has been a 28-year journey that has taken us to 5 countries and 3 U.S. states. Over the years, my husband and I have had to find oncologists wherever we lived.   We have been fortunate that they were willing to communicate and collaborate with top myeloma specialists at the Mayo Clinic and Dana Farber Cancer Institute. And, now many years later, they have generously offered to contribute their own knowledge and experience to my book, ‘Living with Cancer, a CareGivers Journey ®.

It is not just the cancer patient who is affected by a cancer diagnosis; it affects the entire family, their circle of friends, those in the patient’s workplace, and beyond. The book will include information and resources for the cancer caregiver and patient families, who are such an important part of the cancer team and who are searching for help and hope!

This book will be an invaluable tool for those who have cancer, work with cancer patients, research cancer, educate about cancer and work to bring about improvements in a cancer patient’s quality of life. We are inviting  you, the cancer patient and the caregiver, to share your own story and also take the caregiver survey so that we can educate others who are on this journey as well.

Best Regards,
Barbara
